Cooperative Learning

This is where I will be talking about cooperative learning in a Special Education Classroom setting. In my classroom I want it to be a cooperative learning environment. I want the students to be able to gather together to practice and study to learn and understand things from each others perspective. There is a growing acknowledgement that combined with whole group instruction and individual work; cooperative learning should be a regular part of the week’s classroom discussion and instructions. By students interaction with each other makes cooperative learning very influential. To have a successful group of students they must exchange ideas, and make plans and propose solutions. It is going to be the teachers job to encourage these exchanges and structure the students’ work so their communication is on-task and productive. In my classroom I am going to try to have students work in groups as much as I can so they learn from their peers so when they get out in the real world they have a sense of how to communicate and discuss stuff with other people.

Teaching Concepts

Here I am going to be telling you some of the teaching concepts I have in mind for when I become a teacher. I have several teaching concepts in mind that I want to apply in my classroom. The first, I want to make my classroom a place for learning. I do not want anyone is my classroom that is not going to have the will to learn. I am also not going to be putting up with any racism, bias, people that have problem with other students. Students are going to have to learn to get along with each and every one of their classmates. My classroom is going to a place to learn not to fight. I feel that every student has the right to receive the best education as possible. Second, my classroom curriculum will be based on a multicultural perspective so now student feels like they are being left out. I will do whatever in my power to get the best curriculum for the each student and what they need to be learning and to get the best possible education to become successful. Lastly, I am going to do whatever in my power to brighten each child’s day and teach them something new each and everyday.

My inspirations for teaching

This is where I am going to talk about my inspirations for teaching. My inspiration for teaching is my love for children and having them get the best education they can possible get and also my mom. My mom has been in Special Education for almost fifteen years. I have been around Special need children my entire life. Since the 4th grade I have always wanted to become a teacher in Special Education. Everyone tells me that it takes a special person to be able to teach Special need children and I am willing to do whatever it takes to make these children successful and enjoy going to school and learning new things each and everyday. My mother is an amazing individual and has a passion for children with special needs and doing whatever she can get them the right education. Over the years I have seen a bunch of teachers drop off from teaching special needs children and this just gives me the extra drive to continue because these children need us.

Podcasts as Teaching Tools

This is where I will discuss podcasts in the classrooms. Pod casts are a wonderful tool to use in the classroom. I was very doubtful at first about the use of pod casts but after I began to listen and research and actually doing one myself gave me a better understanding how to actually use them. I believe it you can understand and use them correctly in your classroom they will be a very successful tool for students to learn and understand how to use them for projects and stuff. You can use a pod casts for pretty much any topic or discussion. Students can gain a whole new view of learning from the pod casts and they can then discuss their ideas and views of the pod casts in class. On iTunes you can download the educational pod cast for free so any school that has access to the internet can afford using the pod casts in classrooms. There are some really good educational videos on the free educational pod cast on iTunes and I will definitely use pod casts in my classroom so the kids can get a different view and understanding and to be able to grasp what is going on around them while sitting in the chairs.

Blogs as Teaching Tools

This is where I will discuss blogs used in the classrooms. You may be thinking what are blogs? If you do not already know about what they are, a blog is what I would consider a very useful educational tool that everyone should at some point in their teaching career; a blog doesn’t have to be for educational use you can use it for many different things. I have actually seen softball coaches use to try and get athletes recruited by colleges. Blogs can be used to show students upcoming events, homework assignments, it is also a very good way to keep parents involved in what their child is doing and events that are happening. Also on a blog, there is place for students and parents and even the teacher to comment on a certain topic. I feel that this is one of the many useful tools that can we used in the classroom! If there are teachers that haven’t tried it I would recommend trying it.
